PUBLIC SAFETY – Comal County has 2 highways that run from the southern US border to the northern US border: IH-35 and US Hwy. 281. San Antonio is the major hub for all trafficking – drugs, human/sex trafficking, and illegal weapons. I promise to work closely with our County Sheriff and advocate for their office to have the equipment and resources needed to fight crime and protect the public. I will also develop and maintain a good relationship with the Police Departments in New Braunfels, Bulverde, and Fair Oaks Ranch.

CONSERVING AND PROTECTING OUR NATURAL RESOURCES – Comal County is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation and is expected to double in 10 years or less.

WATER  – While saying “conserve water” feels good, it’s not enough nor is it working. I already have a good, working relationship with GBRA leadership and want to find better solutions for water supplies than piping it in from East Texas and/or draining Canyon Lake dry.

DEVELOPMENT – I will appeal to our State Representative and State Senator for limited legislation for Comal County Commissioners to help manage growth without disrupting the long-protected ‘property rights’ of landowners. I also want to help landowners find ways to protect their property while entering into some kind of trust or conservancy that doesn’t result in a land grab by the government.

ENSURING SECURE ELECTIONS – Believe it or not, election fraud is occurring in Comal County. I will ensure our elections administrator and staff remain aware of current and new legislation on election laws, along with working with the Sheriff and District Attorney to hold individuals accountable who violate state election statute, especially regarding residency requirements. I’m also willing to explore returning to paper ballots, which some counties have already begun using.

MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS – We can no longer ignore there is a growing crisis of mental health needs in our community. COVID lockdowns and social media are increasing a disconnect between people. While I cannot go back in time and change the lockdown or cancel social media platforms, I want to continue working to establish awareness of resources for residents who may need mental health care.

TRANSPORTATION AND ROADWAYS – Comal County has 1,000+ miles of roadways to maintain. Comal has 2 seats on a 13-seat board based in San Antonio – Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization – which meets to prioritize road needs throughout the county. I am familiar with the county roadway ranking process and have good relationships with Commissioners in the contiguous counties, along with good contacts with TxDOT San Antonio. I want to make sure Precinct 1 (and help with the County if asked) is getting as many tax dollars as possible for our growing county and roadway needs.

ADVOCATING FOR OUR MILITARY VETERANS – As a former military spouse and huge supporter of our military, I am aware Comal County has an estimated Veteran population of 15,000 and that number is probably on the conservative side. Comal is a magnet for Veterans because of our close proximity to ‘Military City USA’ San Antonio. Comal currently has 2 County Veteran Services Officers and they are overwhelmed with Veteran casework. I’d like to look into what can be done to obtain funding for another CVSO to help alleviate the workload. I also can be their connection to our state and federally elected leaders who can help in getting them the assistance they deserve.
